Mac, a clever but somewhat shy 8-year-old boy, discovers Foster's when his mom tells him he's too old for his Imaginary Friend Blooregard. Not ready to part with his trouble making best buddy, Mac takes Bloo to Foster's with the hope of giving him a safe place to live, while still being able to visit every day. In one instance, Bloo says that Wilt should play basketball because of his height. In a companion episode to "The Big Cheese", Mr. Herriman has locked everyone out with the home's new security system, but a pint-sized friend named Peas is accidentally left inside! Now it us up to Peas to save the day by figuring out a way to get the front door open. When the young heir to Paddle Ball World Incorporated, arrives at Foster's Home in search of an imaginary friend, paddle ball obsessed Bloo secretly goes behind Mac's back to make buddy buddy with the new boy.

Sometimes imaginary friends get lost or kids simply outgrow them. That's why Madame Foster started Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. This focuses on Madame Foster's house and its inhabitants waiting to be reunited or adopted by kids. However, as grateful he is for Mac's key role in averting disaster, he still cannot allow Bloo to stay indefinitely and not be adopted.

Season 5, Episode 3: Say It Isn't Sew

Cartoon Network's Emmy Award-winning animated series makes its DS debut with Imagination Invaders. Inspired by season four's episode "Make Believe It or Not," players guide prankster Blooregard Q. Kazoo on an adventure to save Madame Foster from the Space Nut Boogies. This involves exploring the Foster's house, room by room, to complete quests on behalf of Cheese, Imaginary Man, Jackie Khones, and other characters. As players travel through the residence, they must slink past patrolling guards and other dangers. Disguises can be worn to help avoid detection, while spit wads are used to disable cameras, solve puzzles, and distract nearby enemies.

Bloo imagines he is engaged in another hair-raising adventure as the Bloo Superdude, but in reality, he is just deliriously sick and trying to attend Mac's birthday party. After rain forces the cancellation of a trip to a water park, the friends turn to making fun videos of each other and posting them to the internet. A power struggle develops over who gets the prize of two tickets to a movie premier when Frankie and another friend inadvertently help Mac and Bloo to win a radio contest. When Mac makes a sweet little movie, Bloo re-edits it and makes it a hit.

However, Frankie tells them that if he stays there, he will be eligible for adoption whenever Mac is not around. Mac promises to stop by after school and departs, taking Coco's eggs with him, leaving Bloo alone with his new housemates who show him their bedroom where he will be sleeping at. Seeing Bloo about sleep on the floor, Wilt lets him take his bunk in exchange for sleeping on the floor and they all fall asleep for the night.

Season 6, Episode 10: Bad Dare Day

Mac's plans turns to be successful as several of the Extremeasaurus' tentacles are stripped out and the bombs closed-up inside Coco's eggs. Duchess complains about Mac and the others are ruining her plans while Terrence is amazed about their actions, much to her annoyance. After Mac's plans completed, Eduardo, Wilt and Coco cheer happily at their success before Frankie and Mr. Herriman's arrival as they're impressed and compliment about Mac and his plans. Mac shouts at everyone and reminds them about the Extremeasaurus still chasing after Bloo again with no tentacles. Frankie demands Mac to solve this problem, which he looks around before notices Terrence and Duchess laughing evilly at Extremeasaurus chasing Bloo. Mac finds Coco's eggs in the closet and gets some tools from them needed to make his escape.

Mac and company confronts Terrence and Duchess while he says "Bloo this", much to everyone's bewilderment. Naturally, the Extremeasurus quickly appears to bypass them and proceed to chase after them once more, as Terrence and Duchess know that their plans work. Mac orders Wilt, Coco and Eduardo to help Bloo, but they're terrified to fight against the Extremeasurus.

The next day, Mac and Bloo stop in at the sprawling mansion and are met by Mr. Herriman, the strict business manager. After Bloo explains the situation in comically exaggerated detail, they are given a tour of the house. Frankie, the caregiver, is about to show Mac and Bloo around; however, she is soon called away by the ill-tempered, high-maintenance resident Duchess. Basketball-loving Wilt takes over the tour and introduces Mac and Bloo to the wide variety of imaginary friends that live in the house.

When Coco starts laying eggs filled with awesome collectable cards, the whole of Foster’s gets swept up in collecting fever. When the collecting turns to obsession, jealousy and deceit surface putting everyone’s friendships in jeopardy. Having moved into Foster's, Bloo tries to avoid being adopted in hopes that Mac will return for him.

Mac and Bloo are left alone in the Foster's house and try to have the best day of their lives. Adopt-a-thought Saturday is a great day when Imaginary Friends try to get adopted by new families. But to Mac and Bloo, it is a dark day when their good friends are taken away from them. Determined to save their friends, Mac and Bloo turn to some drastic measures.

Anita Gates of The New York Times praised the episode and stated that the series would promise to be an "admirable tale of loyalty and adventure-based learning with a contagious sense of fun". The episode was written and directed by the show's creator Craig McCracken, with further story work by his then-fiancée Lauren Faust and screenwriters Craig Lewis and Amy Keating Rogers. Mac and Bloo are the first two characters to speak in this movie, making them the first two characters to speak in the whole series.
