The staff on both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are professional and friendly. The differences between the two suite experiences are not massive, and both cruise lines do a great job pampering their guests and providing exclusive perks. On Royal Caribbean ships, the lounges (called the Suite Lounge) are attached to the private dining area, with expansive open views and a large wall of windows. I love the layout of this space, and met lots of guests before and after meals as people lingered and had cocktails.
The busy breakfast buffet is not our idea of a good time when we first wake up. We enjoy waking up slowly, watching the ocean and having breakfast brought to us in the comfort of our room. On Royal Caribbean, room service breakfast only includes a continental breakfast with no hot offerings. On our Celebrity cruise, we were delighted to see hot offerings such as scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon.
The suite experience varies by cruise line, and we tried both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises to see how they compare. We booked everything with the cruise line for convenience, so I was a bit frustrated by the slowness there. We never felt that same congestion on Celebrity Equinox — though, there was some confusion the first day as they now require valid photo ID for all guests who leave the ship in port. Celebrity focuses more on destination talks, wine and bourbon tastings, shopping and other culinary talks. Royal Caribbean offers those, too, but also offers free activities like cupcake decorating contests that educate and entertain.
If you are looking for a sophisticated cruise experience, Celebrity is probably the best option, while Royal Caribbean is best for thrills and excitement and for a family travel. Royal Caribbean International offers more cruise ships than Celebrity, and also larger ships. The Royal Caribbean Oasis Class ships (including the Allure of the Seas and the Wonder of the Seas) are the largest in the world. While Celebrity does have large cruise ships, none of them are near this size.
